it is funny yet interesting to me how people grow and change. when we are little there are things we are so sure of but then when we get older those things are not so clear. there is also just the oppiste as well when we are little we dont understand things but then when we are older we do. things become clear yet clowded. we learn yet we forget. we change yet stay the same.

i started thinking of this over the weekend. i went hunting with my dad. my view on him has changed over the years. as a child i would say "he is like some stranger living in my house that i call dad." he was hardly there. on my birthday he wouldnt be there he would on my brothers but not mine. as a teenager (yes i know i still am) i would say "i dont like him he is never there for me i always have to do what he wants. never what i want" and now at 18 i say "he is my father i love him and i am proud of him". the reason is i have grown. i understand now that my dad has always been there. he missed my birthday so i can have a birthday. i have always had a roof over my head, food on the table (tho at times there was none) he has worked so i can live and have a better life then he. i have always had clothes on my back i am alive. all thanks to my dad. he isnt the type to say i love you but he does say i will see you later or i will see you when i get home. he comes home everyday that is his way of saying i love you. he could have left but he stayed and looked for work and kept me safe, dry, and full. he has made is mistakes over the years but who hasnt yes some are bad and i will admit i dont remember a lot of my youth because i have blocked it out but still he is still hear and he still works so i can take it easier then he had when he was my age.

it also helps that i know a lot of his childhood, and that i am understanding. my dad could have left and had an easier better life but he stayed. he could have waisted his money on booze (ok so my dad is a midnight toker but thats not that bad) and i could have went with out food at age 6 but he didnt he stayed and worked and i understand him now and im proud of him.

my point
my point is that as we get older for us to grow and change we must understand. we must take time and put ourselfs in others shoes for if we dont you wont realize what kind of love people are giving you. if we dont try to understand we wont grow or change you will stay that young child or that teenager forever. you may be angy for the rest of your life all because you didnt stop and think... why?
